New Product Releases:
Special custom designed machinery and automation: Using our extensive motion control expertise, MCS has tackled some of the most difficult applications with success. Look at our line of Specially Designed Machines to see a few of these. Please contact us to quote on any application using motion, robotics and automation.
The introduction of Model105DL fully automatic, dual spindle, high speed precision medical coil winders: The new specially designed series of machines are capable of winding two medical coils simultaneously after automatically feeding a new length of mandrel wire from supply spools. The machine winds two complete coils and drops the finished components into a trough at the end of the cycle. The cycle will repeat continuously until materials run out.
The introduction of the Model 130 continuous coil winder: The new specially designed series of machines are capable of continuously winding a wire over a core material. The machine is commonly used to wind resistors, heating elements and microcoils for medical applications. The Model 130 can be ordered as a Single-Filar, Bi-filar, Tri-filar or Quad-filar machine. Programmable tensioning is used on both the core material and overwrap wire.
The introduction of the Model 105 & Model 105L precision medical coil winders: The new specially designed series of machines are capable of winding catheters, catheter tips, and other precision medical coils. Typical coils have .001-.025 inch (.025-.630mm) diameter medical grade stainless steel wire wound over an .001-.188 inch (.025-4.75mm) diameter mandrel. The Model 105 & Model 105L coil winders rotates a long mandrel between two synchronized servomotors while a special nozzle guides the wire. A programmable closed loop tensioner is used to precisely control winding tension. Pitch is calculated to .000001 inch (.0001mm) accuracy and can be changed in .01 revolution of the mandrel.
The introduction of the Model 103 Resistor / Heater Coil Winder: The new specially designed Model 103 is capable of precision winding resistor / heating elements to exact ohm reading. An integral precision multi-meter constantly monitors resistance during winding. The calculation of turns is done automatically after parameters for "Turns/Inch" and "Length" are entered. Precise changes can be easily made to adjust resistance.
Support for discontinued coil winder lines: MCS continually finds customers in need of modernizing their winding operation. They usually have older machines that are mechanically sound and only need new motors and electronics. In many cases support may be discontinued or the original manufacturer may be out of business. We have solutions for machines from over 31 different manufacturers including Accuwinder, Bachi, Bobifil, EPM, Essex, Fisher Baker, George Stevens, Leesona, LaCesa, Meteor, Prosys, and Universal etc. MCS stands ready to support your coil winding operation. We can provide a wide range of solutions to keep these popular machines running, including complete rebuilds and control conversions with warranties. We can be counted on to be a long term provider of parts, service and support.
The
introduction of the Model 300DT:
At the past
TEAM Show,
the transformer winding industry trade show in Chicago, we
introduced the latest addition to our line of special coil winding
machines, the "Dual Traverse"
Model
300DT.
The machine is based on our MET300 series of heavy duty winding
machines with the addition of two separate wire guides and
traverse systems. Each traverse system is driven by its own
brushless servomotor and lead screw. The "Dual Traverse" is
capable of guiding two separate wires of different sizes
simultaneously. This allows both the primary and secondary of a
transformer to be wound at the same time thereby cutting the cycle
time virtually in half. The spindle is available with a belt drive
or gear box transmission and a brushless servomotor. It is capable
of pulling from 50 to 8 AWG. The machine comes with the
MCS4 PC
based control
and our
“Coil
Pro”
multi-media graphical user interface software.
Support
for discontinued Meteor winding machines:
We now provide control conversions and support for
all Meteor coil winding machines. The
M20
benchtop winder is greatly improved with an MCS1 control
conversion including brushless servomotors and the
Electro Guide
option. The Model
PRA600
multi spindle winder is greatly improved with an MCS4 control
conversion. It too receives brushless servomotors in place of
stepper motors. New life for these robust machines is available
with continuous support from MCS.
The
introduction of the Model 300TFM:
At the past
Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Expo 2000,
the coil winding industry show in Cincinnati, we introduced the
latest addition to our line of heavy duty coil winding machines,
the
Model
300TFM.
The machine was designed to fit between the heavy duty benchtops
and the large floor model machines. The spindle is available with
a belt drive or gear box transmission and a brushless servomotor.
The traverse uses a brushless servomotor to drive a zero backlash
lead screw. It is capable of pulling from 50 to 8 AWG. The machine
comes with the
MCS4 PC
based control
and our
“Coil
Pro”
multi-media graphical user interface software.
MCS4 PC based control utilizes a single built in Pentium based computer, eliminating multi-computer communication errors. The control runs on Windows XP with “Coil Pro” software to create a graphical user interface with full multi-media. The multi-media feature uses audio, video and graphics to instruct and train operators. Now with multi-level security and scheduled maintenance warning indicators. Update virtually any brand of winding machine up to 16 axes. The control is also fully network compatible and upgradeable via the Internet.
New “Unwind” feature: All MCS controls with foot pedal control now have an “Unwind” feature to back up the spindle. This is done while decrementing the turn count and moving the traverse in reverse. It allows a minor mistake to be corrected in a complex hand wound coil.
“Electro Guide” programmable wire guided traverse: Use Electro Guide to upgrade or eliminate messy, noisy and temperamental hydraulic winders. Easily wind difficult precision wound perfect layer coils. Electro Guide is an attachment for the MCS1 Control with Servo X Axis used on the Model 115EG Bench Winder. Since the Electro Guide feature is fully programmable it may be enabled or disabled as required in any wind. Standard pitch traverse is always available including spiral pitch.
Fully programmable automatic paper feeder: New stick winders are available with paper feed attachment. Upgrades are available for previously owned stick winders like the Model 307 Stick Winder with Automatic Paper Feed. Programmable paper feed length and shelf position. Windows XP and Coil Pro software.
Model
115-3 Multi Axis Benchtop Winder:
Benchtop winders like the
MCS1-3
shown can now be updated to full 3 Axes of motion for precise wire
placement. Movements like terminal wrapping and interpolated
multi axis movements are now possible. The benchtop winder
conversion includes 3 brushless servomotors and lead screws to
drive an eyelet assembly. All this is accomplished in same
table space as used by the original machine.
Upgrades are available for previously owned Model
115’s. Available with programmable tension.
Dual Traverse Transformer Winder: Wind primary and secondary simultaneously. Dual traverse systems can operate at different pitch rates. Upgrades are available for previously owned stick or hand winders. Windows XP and Coil Pro software.
MCS1 Micro stepping Axis: Between the inexpensive bipolar stepper traverse and high end servo traverse, we have added a new microstepper traverse. The new system provides many improvements over the bipolar stepper while keeping a reasonable cost.
“Mcscom” Software: Provides a Graphical User Interface method of communicating with the MCS1 embedded control. MCSCOM runs under Windows 98/2K/XP. It allows you to upload and download multiple programs to and from the machine. You also can use Microsoft Notepad's style editor to edit, copy, cut and paste multiple program files. MCSCOM allows you to save and retrieve multiple winding programs on a PC or Laptop.
